Week 99 – Alabama Birmingham Mission
Hey everyone. So transfers were this week. Elder Davis is now in Selma and Elder Ramsey is now with Elder Heer and I. We’ve had a pretty good week.
So to start we’ve been doing a lot of finding. We are always trying to find people. It’s tough and hard to find people that are interested but we try. We talk to people in stores, in the park, on the streets, knock on doors, and just about anything you can think of to find people. Some people listen, most ignore us, and a few bash with us. Its kind of exciting.
As I’ve been reading the Book of Mormon this time I’ve been paying attention to its theme to remember. I’ve noticed that most of the time after something is taught by a prophet he exhorts the people to remember. If we don’t take time after we have spiritual experiences to remember them then we will very quickly forget them. I have been writing down those experiences lately and it has made a huge difference.
As I sat in church yesterday I had this sense of gratitude as looked around at the people I’ve met here. I had this thought come to my mind, “Imagine if you wouldn’t have come on a mission” It wasn’t some profound spiritual experience but I felt for a moment such great appreciation for the experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met in Alabama and Mississippi.
12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.
