Week 96 – Alabama Birmingham Mission

Birmingham Alabama

This week has just been packed. Great things are happening.

We had interviews this week and as always they were great. President Sainsbury is the man!

So we started teaching Abby and Savannah. We met Abby a week or two ago and then Savannah is her roommate. Raksha has been coming to the lessons and they are doing great! They came to church on Sunday with Raksha. 🙂

We had back to back exchanges this week. The first was with the Inverness Elders and they’re in a trio too so that was interesting. I was with Elder Harmon and Mckeon. The exchange ended up getting cut short cause they had to go help someone in their area move so that was a bummer. And then we had an exchange with the Hoover Elders. I was with Elder Canty. It was a good one. We hit the bikes and got soaked with sweat! Gotta love the Alabama heat and humidity. We were finishing out the night in an apartment complex and tracted until 9 even though we were a 25 min bike ride from home. Right at 9 we met Barnabas, a younger man from Africa. He let us in and we were able to talk with him for a couple minutes about the Book of Mormon and he shared one of his questions of the soul. Why do people die? We shared some scriptures with him.

As a mission we are trying to do a better job of working with members. We had a powerful lesson with the Dunham family. Jared is in the YSA branch and they invited us over for dinner. We taught them the restoration using a rubix cube. It was great, the spirit was felt.

There was a regional YSA conference this weekend so it was combined with a bunch of the areas around here (Florida, Mississippi, Georgia). We just had sacrament meeting and then food after. Abby, Savannah, and Aron all came! It was awesome and they got to meet a lot of people.

Great week!

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:9
