Week 88 – Alabama Birmingham Mission
Alright so its only been a couple days since last pday but great things have happened.
On Thursday we went to the temple and had a great experience there with the other missionaries. Its a blessing to have a temple in our mission.
On Friday we had MLC which was really good. We talked a lot about our mission culture and where its at and the vision for what we want it to become.
On Saturday we decided to start of the day using our bikes. We biked to another area of town and the first door we knocked on was a less active man who we didnt know lived there. We knocked on the doors there and then tried some other areas but didnt have much success. We were biking home for lunch and saw a uhaul so stopped to see if they needed help. They were super happy that we stopped to help. It was 2 guys and a girl. We spent our next 3 hours with them helping them move. She lived on the 3rd floor and according to my fitbit I walked up 145 flights of stairs that day lol. They took us to lunch after and we were able to teach them some things about the restoration.
We had a lady call us wanted to meet to help her spiritually she said but then she ended up just telling us about all her problems and how she used to go to our church and she needs money to buy a bus ticket. We told her that theres not really anything we could do as missionaries. She was relentless with trying to get money from us and eventually we called our branch president and long story short she got $20 from us. After giving her the money we tried giving her a Book of Mormon but she denied and said something like No I don’t need that, this will get me through the next 2 days as she proudly held up the money. It was a moment I won’t forget, $20 might cover her for a day or two but the Book of Mormon has the potential to change her life forever, but she turned it down.
On Sunday Landon came to church again. He had a great time and we had a super powerful lesson with him afterwards. He’s ready to be baptized and is excited for May 26!
We had a Come Unto Christ missionary devotional as well and Landon came and brought his friend Nick. They both loved it. It was so powerful. The spirit was super strong.
I’m so grateful to be a missionary. Jesus Christ lives and he knows each of us personally.
