Week 82 – Alabama Birmingham Mission
So our mission is now a technology mission so I now have a smartphone and we are using Facebook to contact members and investigators. We can use it for pretty much whatever as long as its being used to fulfill our purpose. All of our record keeping is moved to the smartphone so we have to spend 2 hours a day entering in old information into the area book app until its all in.. we have 2 area books so this is gonna take a while.
We had a lesson with a lady and after there were some kids playing basketball and this is what happened lol
We tried following up with a less active we met like 2 months ago.. He was hammered again. BUT he talked about how he knows hes fallen off the wagon and he should get back on the “straight and narrow”. Just wish we could catch him sober. He kept telling us how cool we were and how we might be the coolest missionaries he’s ever met. Even cooler than the ones that baptized him and went through the temple with him.
Well Nell kinda dropped us. She didn’t like that we told her that our church was the one she should be going to cause she kept asking if she could go to other churches while shes in Union Springs (45 minutes from Motown) and we told her that it’d be worth the sacrifice and God would bless her for it. I guess she didn’t like that.
James still just doesnt understand. Its so frustrating, you teach the restoration and people agree and say they believe it. Then when you ask them if they’ll be baptized they tell you they’ve been baptized. I just don’t know how else to explain the restoration that will make him understand the priesthood.
Yesterday we tried following up with a guy we met a while back and just give it another shot. He’s a hardcore atheist. He talked about Stephen Hawking and how he KNEW there was no God. It was odd, I haven’t had many of those conversations on my mission. But while he talked about how scientifically you can prove there is no God this scripture came into my mind
28 O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish.
29 But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God.
2 Nephi 9: 28-29
Thanks for all the support and prayers y’all are the best!
