Week 78 – Alabama Birmingham Mission
Well another week down. I’ve been super tired this week. I don’t think you’re ever not tired as a missionary.
I’ve been out here for 18 months now! Its so weird to think in 6 months this will all be over and I won’t be in Alabama anymore. There’s still a lot I want to accomplish so I better get to work!
This week we had exchanges I was with Elder Quayle. He’s from Utah and is a very diligent missionary. We tracted from 6:30-8 and taught a man the restoration. While walking back afterwards a cop stopped us and asked us a bunch of questions. I guess a bunch of people called the cops cause we knocked on their door. My favorite thing the cop said was, “You guys are knocking on doors at night… Do you know where you are?” and then Elder Quayle said, “Yes we know we hear the gunshots”
We met with Amir one of the Baja Angels and talked to him about religion. He doesn’t really have a religious background so it was cool teaching him about who Jesus Christ is cause like 99% of people here go to a Christian church.
Also we went to a Dalraida Baptist church with a part member family that invited us to a steak dinner. So Dalraida Baptist became the Steak Center lol super lame joke. The pastor read the verse in James 5 about anointing and giving a blessing of healing and then they threw down a chair and had a kid come up. Then they asked for all those who had been “ordained” to come up and then the pastor knelt in front of the kid in the chair and and all the people put their hands of the kids head and then the pastor said a prayer. By the power of the Holy Ghost through the Book of Mormon I know that Priesthood keys were restored to the earth and they are found only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
3 And now, O my son Helaman, behold, thou art in thy youth, and therefore, I beseech of thee that thou wilt hear my words and learn of me; for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.
