Week 58 – Alabama Birmingham Mission
801 Trilliam Ln
Clanton AL 35045
Hey everyone I hope you’ve all had a good week. I’ll share with you a couple things from our week.
We taught Keith and Toccara the Law of Chastity. Toccara is so prepared and so ready and willing. We encouraged them to set a goal for a date to get married. Keith doesn’t feel that he’s ready but we’re praying that changes.
We received a referral for a lady named Sherri D Kangaroo requeting a Book of Mormon. We called her and she told us we could come that night so we did. She lives in the middle of the woods. So we’re driving around on dirt roads trying to figure out where her place is, but we finally found it and go up there. We meet her and share with her what the Book of Mormon is. We then ask when we can come back and share more and she tells us that she has to go to the doctor to get an MRI cause “I’m a little crazy” So here we are in the middle of the woods, in Alabama, in the dark, with a lady who just confessed to being crazy, and what do we do? Say a prayer with her. Only a mission haha
We were eating lunch with one of the members. They made us some deer burgers (they were pretty good, but my stomach didn’t think so) and we’re having some casual dinner table conversation and the lady goes “I see dead people, and they’re telepaths” and her husband didn’t even acknowledge what was said and the conversation just moved forward.
We had zone conference this week and with zone conferences we normally have car inspections as well. We got to Montgomery 45 minutes early to find a car wash to wash our car cause it was really dirty from all the dirt roads but after 45 minutes we found nothing. On our car inspection sheet we got a note that our car was the dirtiest in the mission.. oops. It was a good zone conference though! Little by little makes a little a lot.
General conference was SO good. I had so many questions that were answered and wow it was so good. Heres some of my favorite talks.
Honestly they were all super good though. Listen to them all!
And as you know Elder Hales passed away between sessions, but as he had written in his talk that he would’ve given “Our faith prepares us to stand in the presence of God”
I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is true. If you don’t have a testimony of it then do that which is necessary to gain one. The testimonies of others will only carry you so far.
Love all y’all,
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For what is a man porfited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
The cotton fields are starting to bloom so at least something is getting white already to harvest! haha
