Week 44 – Alabama Birmingham Mission
800 Energy Center Blvd Apt. 205
Northport, AL 35473
Well another transfer is coming to an end!
Transfer News: Elder Honn will be going home to Boise, Idaho (RIP) and Elder Jessen and I will be staying in Northport for another 6 weeks. I’m glad to be staying I love the members here and will be sad when the time comes to say goodbye.
Elder Honn will be missed.
It rained so much and Elder Honn and I made the decision to get out of the car and play basketball for a couple minutes in the pouring rain. It was quiet the experience and the seats in the car were wet for the next 3 days!
Hurricane Sandy came through the gulf so it rained Monday-Saturday. It rained SO much. I’ve never seen so much rain. There was even a tornado like 30 minutes from us!
We went back to teach this referral named Patricia more about the restoration and someone else came to the door and said that Patricia couldn’t talk to us right now cause she was on the phone trying to get her ex husband arrested. Last time we were there she told us about how she read the first chapter in the Book of Mormon. I don’t know if I’ve been reading the same book as her cause what she was explaining definitely isn’t in the first chapter of my Book of Mormon! haha
On Saturday we were following up with all our potential investigators and nobody was interested/answering their doors. we had a lady to follow up with named Joann. We had found her when I was with Elder Tausinga but had lost contact cause she changed phones and we taught her at this disabled mans house who she was a caretaker for. Anyways, we had found her in the area book, she had been taught by missionaries a little bit in the past. So we went to the address written on her record and the house looked like it had been abandoned and was right next to one that was definitely abandoned. We figured we might as well try since we were there. We got out of the car and walked towards the door.. We smelled fried chicken and realized someone lived there! Her son answered the door and we asked for Joann and talked to her for a sec. She wants us to come back and said she’d call us from her new number! She hasn’t called yet but we know where she lives now 😉
This is Sister Brannon, this week we made her this award because she does so much for the missionaries here and making sure we’re taken care of. She’s the best!
16 And blessed be he that shall bring this thing to light; for it shall be brought out of darkness unto light, according to the word of God; yea, it shall be brought out of the earth, and it shall shine forth out of darkness, and come unto the knowledge of the people; and it shall be done by the power of God.
I hope the pictures still look okay, I’m almost out of space on here so I compressed the pictures this week.
I love and miss y’all!
