Week 25 – Alabama Birmingham Mission
So I’ll start with the funny quotes
“Oh what’re you guys doing back here?”
“Excuse me, I’ve been really gassy today.”
So we started out this week with a zone activity in Tupelo. We played nine square and had a good time.
On Wednesday we had a deal with one of our investigators that if we went to their Wednesday service they’d come to ours on Sunday (they got sick though so they said they’d come next week) so we went to the Second Baptist Church! It was fun.. I was the only white person! Haha. They played some rockin music and the Preacher was pretty exciting, totally different from our church!
We spent some time trying to track down some less-actives and drop in on them but had no success, but I found Curry street.
We had exchanges this week and the way they’re having us do it is that both companionships go to one area so Elder Prestwich and I were in West Point with Elder Svenson and Gwira. Elder Svenson and I played ball with some kids in the hood and then after we all went to the church and played basketball with some youth it was super fun. I wish we were able to play basketball more!! Elder Gwira and I went tracting and taught some nice people. He’s super funny and one of the most sincere people that I’ve ever met.
On the way back to Starkville things got swampy
Our branch had a Valentines party that we were able to go to and some of the Conners kids came! It was fun even though some members here didn’t seem to like that we were there.
Church was great this week. We had our neighbor Moriah and her daughter Ella come and they seemed to enjoy it and are planning on coming next week! 🙂 Elder Prestwich and I taught the young men the Plan of Salvation and it went really well except for 2 brothers who kept sharing their Moms ideas as doctrine haha.
Shoutout to the Taylors for the box of cookies and ice cream! You guys are the best!!
13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
I think falling backwards and being broken is part of the process of strengthening and building testimony and it will take time. Little experiences here and there eventually will paint the picture of your testimony.
PS If anyone wants to buy a Nerf gun for $10 let me know I know some guys who used their months money to buy Nerf guns and now they’re struggling for food.
